ABOUT US
Who we are
PROGRESSIVE SUGAR CANE PRODUCERS ASSOCIATION (PSCPA), was founded on 15 January 2015 by six (6) cane producers that were committed for change and better governance.
The founding members of PSCPA are Abisur Loza, Lucilo Jimenez, Octavio Cowo, Tiburcio Acosta and Cosme Hernandez..
These six (6) men were committed to their production and wanted their sugarcane be delivered to the mills without any obstacle. They proved to be fruitful and the association is still thriving.
As a baby, the association rented a space for its main office on Belize Corozal Road in the Orange Walk Town, Orange Walk District of Belize. At the fifth year, they moved over to their every own building and office space on Mile 57 Philip Goldson Highway, Orange Walk District, Belize.
The association also owns a sub-office in San Estevan Village, Orange Walk District.
The association manages its producer members among five (5) geographical zones. Each zone has one (1) manager and a committee that administers the zone. Elections for new managers and committees are held every two years.
The association also has a delegate system that assists the zone management and association with socializing information. Each delegate represents a farmer group that totals 10,000 tons. They are tasked to accurately and efficiently inform the membership of the meetings they attend and the results of those meetings. Delegates are also elected every two-years.
A surveillance committee is also elected every two years to serve as overseers of the overall administration of the organization including the activities related to the Fairtrade Premium Funds.
